Bulgaria boosts gas imports from Azerbaijan 1.9-fold in H1 2024; Georgia cuts imports 50%
BAKU. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Turkey overtook Italy to lead countries purchasing Azerbaijani gas in January-June 2024, accounting for 41.7% of the total volume of gas exports from the country, Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee told Interfax.
State Statistics Committee data indicate that Azerbaijan boosted gas supplies to Turkey 25% to nearly 4.965 billion cubic meters, down 0.4% to nearly $1.551 billion, in January-June 2024.
Italy placed second in purchases of Azerbaijani gas, accounting for 41.4%, and Bulgaria placed third, accounting for 7.3%.
Georgia again recorded a substantial drop of 50% in volumes and cost for gas deliveries.
Azerbaijan supplied gas to six countries overall in H1 2024, namely to Italy, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, Turkey, and Georgia.
