Lithuanian customs authority introduces exceptions to ban on cars registered in Belarus
MINSK. Aug 16 (Interfax) - Lithuania has introduced exceptions to its ban on entry for all cars with Belarusian license plates, the press service for Lithuania's customs authority said on Friday.
"Council Regulation (EC) No.765/2006 provides for some exemptions from this ban," it said.
Thus, "cars that are not intended for sale and are owned by Belarusian citizens who have a valid visa issued by Lithuania or a valid temporary or permanent residence permit in Lithuania will be allowed to enter Lithuanian territory from 00:01 a.m. on August 17," it said.
The entry ban will not apply to "cars that are not for sale and belong to citizens of European Union member states if they are residents of Belarus." A car should be driven by its owner when it enters Lithuania.
Lithuania barred cars registered in Belarus on July 18, 2024, but made an exception, valid until August 15, for cars that are not for sale or are owned by Belarusian citizens with a valid visa or a temporary or permanent residence permit of an EU member state.
