Kazakhstan's industrial production grows 2.9% in Jan-July
ASTANA. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's industrial production reached 27.694 trillion tenge in January-July 2024, up 2.9% year-on-year, the National Statistics Bureau of the Strategic Planning and Reforms Agency said.
The mining industry grew 0.5% to 12.732 trillion tenge, or 46% of the overall production, largely due to a significant rise in natural gas extraction (up 5.1%) and metallic ore mining (up 5.8%).
The manufacturing sector grew 5.1% to 12.939 trillion tenge, or 46.7% of the total industrial output. Growth was reported by the chemical industry (7.4%), production of main pharmaceutical goods and drugs (16.2%), metallurgy (9.2%), production of finished metal products except for excluding machinery and equipment (29.8%) machine building (4.7%), and production of other finished goods (1.7-fold).
The electricity, gas, steam, and hot water supply sector grew by 6%, driven by an increase in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution (up 6.4%) and gas fuel production and transmission by pipelines (up 7.9%).
