Russian govt extends gasoline export ban until year end

MOSCOW. Aug 14 (Interfax) - The Russian government has imposed new restrictions on gasoline exports starting on September 1.

"From September 1 to December 31, 2024, a temporary restriction on gasoline exports will once again be in effect in Russia. A respective order has been signed. The decision was made to maintain a stable situation on the fuel market during the period of ongoing seasonal demand and scheduled repairs carried out at oil refineries," the government said on Telegram.

The restriction will not apply, among other things, to supplies under international intergovernmental agreements, including member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, to fuel exported by citizens for personal use, as well as to fuel exported to provide international humanitarian aid, the statement said.

Currently, Russia has a temporary ban on gasoline exports, introduced by the government from March 1 to August 31, 2024. From May 20 until the end of July, the ban was suspended due to the saturation of the domestic market with motor gasoline and the need to prevent a decrease in oil refining volumes by individual enterprises.
