Russia plans to bring number of launches from its cosmodromes to 56 per year by 2030 - First Deputy PM Manturov

MOSCOW. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Russia needs to bring the total number of space launches from its cosmodromes to 56 per year by 2030, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said.

"We need to increase the number of satellites of orbital constellations up to 1,200 in the horizon up to 2030. Bring the total number of launches from Russian cosmodromes to 56 per year," Manturov said during a strategic session dedicated to the development of Russia's space activities for the period up to 2030 and prospectively up to 2036.

Earlier on Tuesday, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said it was essential to increase the Russian satellite constellation several times over.

On April 12, Manturov said that Russia's satellite constellation currently consists of more than 240 satellites, with more than 100 more expected to be launched by the end of 2024.

According to official information, Russia conducted 19 space launches in 2023. Eight launches have been performed so far in 2024.
