DUBAI. Aug 13 (Interfax) - President of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Mahmoud Abbas urged the international community to hold an international peace conference on the Palestinian issue at talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the WAFA news agency reported.
"President Abbas stressed the need for the international community [...] to hold an international peace conference to give hope to the Palestinian people that the international community is serious about preserving the remaining possibility of implementing the two-state solution," WAFA reported.
Abbas also said he wants all countries of the world to encourage Israel to respect international law and comply with the International Court of Justice's orders.
Abbas reiterated the importance of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the enclave. He emphasized the need to put an end to settler attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank and violations against Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Abbas also underscored the importance of bolstering bilateral relations with Russia and thanked Moscow for its support.
Abbas and Putin held talks in Moscow earlier on Tuesday.
