Ukraine's DTEK Energo invests almost UAH 2 bln in TPP repairs

MOSCOW. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Ukraine's DTEK Energo has invested almost UAH 2 billion of its own funds in repairing and rebuilding thermal power plants (TPPs) over the past seven months, Ukrainian media reported, citing the company's statement as saying on Tuesday.

In total, DTEK plans to invest around UAH 3.9 billion this year in repairing and rebuilding TPPs, which corresponds to last year's investments.

"There are slightly more than two months left before the beginning of the heating season. Therefore, power engineers and repairmen are working around the clock to rebuild and return as much damaged capacity to the energy system as possible and as quickly as possible. They will continue restoration in the same manner throughout the winter and years to come," DTEK Energo CEO Ildar Saleyev said.

As reported, about 90% of DTEK's thermal generation capacity has been destroyed or damaged since the crisis broke out. According to preliminary estimates of experts, approximately UAH 14 billion to 16 billion ($350 million to $400 million) is needed to rebuild them.
