Inflation in Belarus near zero in July, 3.4% YTD
MINSK. Aug 12 (Interfax) - Consumer prices in Belarus rose just 0.03% in July, national statistics agency Belstat said.
Inflation slowed from 0.6% in June and in May.
There was 3.4% inflation for January-July.
Annual inflation was 5.5% in July and 5.8% in June. Core inflation was 0.3% in July and 3.2% in 7M 2024.
Food prices fell 0.2% in July and rose 3.5% in 7M, non-food prices rose 0.3% and 2.8%, respectively, and service charges rose 0.1% and 4.1%.
Inflation in Belarus slowed to 5.8% in 2023 from 12.8% in 2022 and 10% in 2021.
The government is targeting not more than 6% inflation in 2024.
Belarus continues to regulate prices for almost all goods in the consumer basket, as well as for basic services.
