Ukrainian State Border Guard Service provides border-crossing statistics
MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax) - The number of border crossings in Ukraine grew 1.0% on August 3-9 to 736,000, while a net weekly inflow into Ukraine was recorded for three consecutive weeks despite a slight decline to 24,000 from 29,000 a week ago, Ukrainian media said, citing the State Border Guard Service's statement on a social network.
The number of arrivals grew from 379,000 to 380,000, while the number of departures increased from 350,000 to 356,000.
There was an increase in vehicles crossing the border from 134,000 to 137,000 over the week, while the number of humanitarian trucks declined from 633 to 589.
In terms of daily traffic, border guards say there is a traditional increase in departures on weekends and the days before them, while the number of arrivals grows on weekends and on Mondays.
According to an update from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, there were 6.580 million Ukrainian refugees worldwide, including 6.021 million in Europe, as of July 15, 2024, which is 25,000 and 24,000 more, respectively, versus the previous month.
The UN estimated the number of displaced persons in Ukraine at 3.548 million in April 2024, or 141,000 fewer than at the beginning of this year.
