Ukravtoprom provides statistics of demand for imported used cars

MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Almost 133,300 imported used cars added to the Ukrainian fleet in January-July 2024, up 26% from the year ago, Ukrainian media said, citing an Ukravtoprom statement on a social network.

The growth of demand for such vehicles slowed down a bit over the past seven months. It stood at 36% to the respective period of last year in the first five months and 30% in the first half of the year.

Some 18,600 used cars were imported into Ukraine in July, which is 6% more than in July 2023 and 8% more than in June 2024, the association said.

As reported with the reference to Ukravtoprom, the sales of new cars grew 20% year-on-year and 24% versus June 2024 to around 6,400 in July 2024 against the backdrop of reported intentions to levy a 15% war tax. This means that demand for imported used cars exceeded demand for new cars by 2.9 times last month.

According to the association, the largest share in the segment of foreign-made used cars in July still belonged by a large margin to gasoline cars - 48%, followed by diesel cars (23%), electric cars (19%) and LPG cars and hybrids (5% each).

Volkswagen Golf remained the leader among imported second-hand cars with 913 registrations.

The top ten popular models of July also includes Renault Megane (836), Skoda Octavia (687), Volkswagen Passat (618), Volkswagen Tiguan (575), Nissan Leaf (529), Audi Q5 (506), Nissan Rogue (467), Tesla Model 3 (433) and Audi A4 (429).
