Yerevan, Baku remove article on unblocking regional transport links from draft peace agreement by mutual consent
YEREVAN. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Armenia and Azerbaijan have removed the article on unblocking regional transport links from the draft peace agreement, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan said.
"While noting that the article on regional transport links has been removed from the draft peace agreement by mutual consent, we should stress that their effective unblocking remains an important element of the vision and agenda promoted by Armenia to ensure peace and economic development in the region," Badalyan told the Armenian state-run news agency Armenpress on Wednesday.
"The most illustrative example of this is the Crossroads of Peace program presented by the Armenian government and based on the known principles of respect for the sovereignty and jurisdiction, reciprocity and equality," she said.
Azerbaijani Special Presidential Representative Elchin Amirbayov said earlier that Yerevan and Baku had agreed to remove the clause concerning the Zangezur corridor to connect Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan via Armenia from the draft peace agreement and move the issue to a later date by mutual consent.
