River passenger traffic in Russia expected to grow almost 40% in 2024 - minister

MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Passenger traffic on inland waterways in Russia is expected to grow by 38.7% year-on-year to 14.7 million passengers in the 2024 navigation season, Transport Minister Roman Starovoit said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

"Transport of passengers on inland waterways increased by 9.7% and reached 2.47 million in the first half of 2024," the minister said.

Passenger traffic on tourist routes is expected to exceed 420,000 people in 2024, Starovoit added.
