Russian airlines carried 6.4% more passengers in 7M - minister

MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) - Russian airlines carried 6.4% more passengers in the first seven months of 2024, Transport Minister Roman Starovoit said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

"In the first seven months of this year, Russian airlines transported 62.9 million people, which is 6.4% more than in the same period last year," he said, adding that 47.9 million passengers were carried nondomestic flights, up 2.3%.

"We forecast that Russian airlines will carry 73.7 million passengers in the summer high season, up 7% year-on-year," he said.

Russian airlines carried 51.2 million passengers in January-June 2024, up 7.6% year-on-year, the Federal Air Transport Agency, or Rosaviatsia, has said. This included 38.7 million on domestic flights, up 3.4%. The share of interregional routes (bypassing Moscow) was 63.3%. International traffic grew 23.2% to 12.5 million passengers - Russia currently has direct flights to 36 countries.
