KRU boosts capacity of three coal processing plants by 7%

KEMEROVO. Aug 7 (Interfax) - Kuzbassrazrezugol Coal Company (KRU) , Russia's second largest coal miner, has increased the capacity of its Bachatskaya-Koksovaya, Krasnobrodskaya-Koksovaya and Kaltanskaya-Energeticheskaya coal processing plants by 6.7% or 868,500 tonnes per year, the company said in its sustainable development report for last year, which was published Wednesday.

The company said it installed hydrosizers and dehydrating equipment at the Bachatskaya-Koksovaya and Krasnobrodskaya-Koksovaya plants, which made it possible to increase production of commercial product and reduce its moisture levels. At the Kaltanskaya-Energeticheskaya plant, the company launched a floatation line, which increased production of washed coal.

These plants "produce washed coal with the highest margin," the company said.

KRU, which mines hard coal in Kemerovo Region, has a total of six washing plants with combined capacity to process about 25 million tonnes of coal per year. The company said in the report that it processed more than 92% of the coal it mined last year at its own plants.
