Temporary rules for prioritizing freight traffic on Russia's railways to remain until year's end
MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) - The temporary rules for shipments on the Russian Railways (RZD) network that set out the main principles for prioritizing freight traffic while the rules of non-discriminatory access to rail infrastructure are suspended will remain in effect until the end of this year.
The temporary rules were set to expire on September 1, but the government has issued a resolution (No. 1052) to extend the suspension of the rules of non-discriminatory access until December 31, 2024, inclusive. The document was posted on the website for official publication of laws and regulations on Tuesday.
The government suspended the rules of non-discriminatory access in March 2022 and later extended their suspension several times.
In May 2024, the government approved an updated version of rules for access to railway infrastructure that were supposed to go into effect on September 1. They are based on the existing, suspended rules of non-discriminatory access, and temporary rules for RZD shipments that are in effect now.
