Obukhovskaya mine produces almost 800,000 tonnes of coal in H1 - authorities

ROSTOV. Aug 6 (Interfax) - JSC Obukhovskaya Mine Management, a coal miner in Russia's Rostov Region, produced 796,000 tonnes of coal in the first half of 2024, 20% more than planned 664,000 tonnes, the region's deputy governor, Igor Sorokin told Interfax.

He said the company is carrying out an investment program to develop and modernize its existing operations, which will enable it to increase coal mining and processing in the coming years.

It was reported earlier that the company invested more than 478 million rubles in development in the first quarter of 2024.

Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov's energy group DTEK bought 100% of shares in Obukhovskaya and Donskoi Anthracite and 66.7% of Sulinanthracite LLC from Rostov Anthracite LLC in June 2012 for $39 million. The latter was then merged with Donskoi Anthracite.

In August 2021, Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service approved an application from Cyprus-based Valleyton Investments Ltd. to acquire control of the Russian DTEK assets.

In June 2024, Moscow-based JSC Best Solution acquired 100% of Donskoi Anthracite and Obukhovskaya Mine Management from Cyprus-based Fabcell Ltd. President Vladimir Putin signed an order in January 2024 to allow Best Solution to acquire the two companies.
