Ukraine building dry port in Vinnitsia region to link central regions to Odessa

MOSCOW. Aug 6 (Interfax) - A dry port that will help connect central regions of Ukraine to Odessa ports and with European Union countries through the Mostiska container terminal is scheduled to open in the Vinnitsia region in the third quarter of this year.

The first phase of the dry port is now being built, Ukrainian media reported Vinnitsia Deputy Mayor Andrei Ocheretny as saying on social media.

The first phase will include the construction of railway infrastructure and the first container terminal with capacity to handle about 30,000 TEU per year. Part of the railway lines, the weighing system and 3,500 square meters of warehouse space have already been completed.

"This will be a railway terminal that will improve efficient transportation and handling of freight and at the same time both the export and import potential of our country," Ocheretny said.

The project will cost $15 million and create 100 jobs, he said.
