Almost 8 mln foreigners visit Russia in H1 2024
MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Russia received 7.9 million foreigner visitors, including 584,600 tourists, in January-June 2024, the Federal Security Service's Border Service said in a statistical report.
The total number of foreign arrivals grew 11.4% year-on-year, while the number of inbound tourist trips increased by 211%.
Uzbekistan led by all types of arrivals, with 1.8 million trips. Kazakhstan ranked second (1.5 million) and Tajikistan was the last among the top three (977,800), followed by China (700,650) and Kyrgyzstan (550,200). Other top ten members are Abkhazia (349,100), Azerbaijan (257,100), Belarus (191,100) and Mongolia (173,300).
China led by foreign tourist arrivals in January-June, far ahead of other countries with 301,800 trips, or 834% more than in the respective period of last year. Turkmenistan ranked second with 31,200 tourists (up 121.7% from last year). Turkey was the last among the top three with 26,800 tourists, or 30% more than last year. The top five also included Germany (24,160, up 38%) and the United Arab Emirates (19,260, up 286%).
The top ten consisted of Saudi Arabia (16,200 tourists, or almost 20 times more than last year), followed by Iran (14,000, up 52%), India (10,240, double growth), Kazakhstan (9,800, up 58%) and Cuba (8,500, up 161%).
