Gas deliveries from Azerbaijan to Italy via TAP rose 4.5% to 4.3 bcm 5M

BAKU. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Gas deliveries from Azerbaijan to Italy via TAP, the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, increased 4.5% year-on-year in January-May 2024 to 4.303 billion cubic meters, Italy's Ministry of Environment and Energy Security said.

Italy's total gas imports fell 4.4% year-on-year to 27.631 bcm, and Azerbaijan supplied 15.6% of it.

Azerbaijan increased gas supplies to Italy 10.4% year-on-year to 890 million cubic meters in May alone.

Italy imported a total of 3.554 bcm of gas in May, down 6.9% year-on-year and 25% of it from Azerbaijan.

The Italian ministry said Italy received 9.988 bcm of gas via the TAP in 2023, down 3.2% year-on-year. Azerbaijan plans to supply 9.6 bcm of gas to Italy in 2024.

Azerbaijan started to export gas to Europe on December 31, 2022.
