Russians make almost 12.7 mln int'l trips in H1 2024

MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Russians made 12.668 million international trips, including 4,925 million tourist trips, in H1 2024, up 20% year-on-year, the Russian Federal Security Service's Border Service said in a statistical report.

Some 11.657 million international trips, including 4.1 million tourist trips, were taken in January-June.

Turkey tops the 2024 list of destinations by all types of travel, with 2.52 million visitors. The runners-up are Abkhazia (2.16 million), Kazakhstan (1.23 million), the United Arab Emirates (986,200), and China (793,000). Other members of the top 10 are Thailand (717,000), Egypt (667,000), Georgia (522,000), Armenia (452,800), and Azerbaijan (340,700).

Turkey also leads in terms of tourist trips. It recorded almost 1.76 million Russian tourist arrivals in H1 2024, or 6% more than the year before.

The UAE ranks second among tourist destinations with 730,400 arrivals, up 8% since 2023. Egypt ranks third with 532,000 Russian tourist arrivals in H1 2024, up 15% year-on-year. Thailand ranks fourth with 517,000 visits by Russian tourists (up 22%), followed by China with 406,000 Russian tourist arrivals.
