Roscosmos loses 180 bln rubles from terminated contracts with Western states - top manager
MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Roscosmos lost 180 billion rubles from the termination of contracts by the Western states and plans to regain pre-sanctions level of exports via cooperation with Asian, African and Middle East countries, Roscosmos First Deputy General Director Andrei Yelchaninov said in an interview with Interfax.
"The termination of contracts by unfriendly countries has cost Roscosmos 180 billion rubles," Yelchaninov said.
Since the beginning of the special military operation and the termination of contracts with Western countries, Roscosmos has refocused on other partners, including countries of Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, he said.
"As to regaining the pre-sanctions level of exports, we set this task. However, it is a long game, as in all new markets with high competition. If we enter them correctly, the prospects are very good," Yelchaninov said.
Roscosmos is gradually recovering from a financial crisis, he said.
"The industry's loss was planned at least at 50 billion rubles in 2022. The actual number was slightly more than 17 billion. The systemic work continued in 2023, and we cut the expected loss from 45 billion to 13.9 billion rubles," Yelchaninov said.
In 2024, Roscosmos head Yury Borisov said the task of "maximizing the achievement of the industry's breakeven," he said.
