Sales of new cars, LCVs in Russia surge 41% to 145,661 in July

MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) in Russia jumped 41.2% year-on-year to 145,661 vehicles in July, the Industry and Trade Ministry reported, citing data from Passport Industrial Consulting, a joint venture between Avtostat and the operator of the EPTS electronic vehicle title system.

Sales in July grew by 9.1% from 133,504 vehicles in the previous month, the ministry said. Car sales rose 41.3% year-on-year and 9.2% month-on-month to 134,303, and LCV sales grew by 40.9% and 8.1%, respectively, to 11,358. Truck sales fell 12.7% and 6.1%, respectively to 11,188 and bus sales rose 25.5% and 0.7% to 1,599.

Overall vehicle sales rose 57.5% year-on-year in January-July to 1,003,103. 1.003 million. Car and LCV sales in the first seven months of 2024 surged 66.7% year-on-year to 920,280. Truck sales fell 4.7% to 70,544 while bus sales grew 15.7% to 12,279.

Market leader Avtovaz said last week that it boosted domestic sales of Lada cars and LCVs 28.1% year-on-year to 37,645 vehicles in July 2024, down 5.2% month-on-month. Sales rose 47.6% to 255,276 in 7M 2024.
