Zaporozhstal ramps up output of rolled steel products 38% in Jan-July

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - Zaporizhzhya-based Zaporozhstal metallurgical plant ramped up production of rolled steel products 38% year-on-year to 1.435 million tonnes in January-July 2024, Ukrainian media reported, citing the company's statement.

Steel production increased 37.9% year-on-year to about 1.737 million tonnes in the reporting period, and pig iron output rose 27.1% year-on-year to nearly 1.79 million tonnes.

Zaporozhstal produced 261,900 tonnes of pig iron, 250,800 tonnes of steel, and shipped 202,000 tonnes of rolled products in July.

As reported, Zaporozhstal boosted production of rolled products 1.6-fold year-on-year to 2.055 million tonnes, steel 1.7-fold year-on-year to 2.467 million tonnes, and pig iron 35.3% year-on-year to 2.719 million tonnes in 2023, and the plant operated at an average capacity of 70%.

Zaporozhstal specializes in the production of hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils and sheets, as well as steel strapping, blackplate and rolled-formed sections.
