Russia, Tajikistan discuss former's joining agreement on parallel operation of Central Asian power systems

DUSHANBE. Aug 2 (Interfax) - Tajikistan's Energy and Water Resources Minister Daler Juma and Russia's Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilyov discussed collaboration in the energy sector at a meeting in Dushanbe, the Tajik Energy Ministry's press center said.

"The parties discussed the state of bilateral collaboration in the energy sector, particularly as part of the Sangtuda Hydro-electric Power Plant-1 joint venture between Tajikistan and Russia," the press center said.

The parties also discussed "matters concerning Russia's accession to the agreement on parallel operation of Central Asian energy systems" during the meeting. Tsivilyov said that accession would allow expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in the electric power industry, the press service notes.
