Russian FM calls on all parties to prevent further destabilization of situation in Middle East - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called on all parties influencing the situation in the Middle East to prevent actions that may further destabilize the situation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
Lavrov had a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani on August 1. The phone conversation was on Iran's initiative.
"The parties discussed the killing of the head of the Hamas Political Bureau in Tehran during his stay at the ceremony of inauguration of Iran's President Pezeshkian. They noted the unacceptability of political killings and extremely dangerous consequences of such actions, which may lead to sharp escalation in the Palestine-Israel conflict zone and rapid deterioration of the situation in the region," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a report published on its site.
"Lavrov called on all parties without exception that influence the situation in the Gaza Strip and in the Middle East in general to prevent actions that may further destabilize the situation and cause new civilian casualties," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
