Moldova not planning to purchase gas from Gazprom in August, will continue buying from state-owned Energocom
CHISINAU. Aug 1 (Interfax) - Moldova's state-owned JSC Energocom will supply natural gas to JSC Moldovagaz, the country's national operator, in August, Moldovagaz CEO Vadim Ceban posted on social media.
Gazprom owns 50% of the shares in Moldovagaz.
Ceban said that Energocom was selected as the gas supplier following an auction. Energocom sells gas for 32.63 euros/MWh, equivalent to 347.18 euros per 1,000 cubic meters, based on the maximum forecast calorific value of 10.64 kWh per cubic meter and the current exchange rate.
"The agreement reached during the auction on the BRM EST platform [the Romanian Commodities Exchange (BRM) platform in Moldova] stipulates the volume of natural gas contracted by the parties at 175,560 MWh, or 16.5 million cubic meters. The formula for the supply price is tied to the Dutch TTF front month index," Ceban said.
The purchase price for gas was 34.43 euros/MWh in July, equivalent to 366.34 euros per 1,000 cubic meters; 349.79 euros per 1,000 cubic meters in June; and 331.22 euros per 1,000 cubic meters in May.
