Moldova announces expulsion of diplomat from Russian embassy in Chisinau

CHISINAU. Aug 1 (Interfax) - The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has declared a diplomat of the Russian embassy in Chisinau persona non grata.

"Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov was summoned to the Foreign Ministry today and presented with a ministerial note which declared an employee of the Russian embassy in Chisinau persona non grata," the ministry's press service said on Thursday.

"The decision of the Moldovan authorities derives from specific actions which provided information and evidence of activity inconsistent with the diplomatic status conducted by the Russian diplomat on Moldovan territory," the press service said.

"Therefore, the employee of the Russian embassy must leave the Republic of Moldova," it said.
