Russia ready for talks on global security on equitable footing with U.S. - Matviyenko
MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - Russia is always ready for a dialogue on global security with the United States, provided that it is held on equitable terms, Russian Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said.
"We have stated and are stating that we are always ready for a dialogue, and we are always ready for negotiations on global security and other emerging issues that are of interest to the entire world, but on equitable conditions, with our national interests taken into account, and not negotiations by diktat," Matviyenko said at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.
"Russia can't be talked to in the language of diktat. We'll never agree to that. Only equitable negotiations that would promote common and indivisible security for each state and global stability. We are open [to a dialogue], and if our terms are accepted, then such a dialogue is possible. But if this is the same old story again, then certainly no such dialogue will work out," she said.
