Exchange transactions with govt bonds in Ukraine falls 60% after Ukrainian Exchange leaves market

MOSCOW. July 31 (Interfax) - Ukrainian stock exchanges recorded an average weekly 6,910 transactions with government bonds on Ukrainian stock exchanges over the past three weeks since the regulator took the Ukrainian Exchange in Kiev off the market, down 60% from the previous three weeks, Ukrainian media reported, citing statistics from the Settlement Center for Servicing Financial Markets Contracts in Kiev.

The number of transactions with corporate securities fell 14.4% to 923.

The Settlement Center said net transactions in government bonds fell 20.1% to 3,400 and in corporate bonds 26.4% to 280.

The significant drop in the number of transactions as a whole did not lead to a reduction in average trading volume: for government bonds this grew 2.6% to UAH 17.52 billion per week and for corporate bonds 6.9% to UAH 2.53 billion.

But government bond trading has declined on a week by week basis, from UAH 24.08 billion from July 8-12 to UAH 20.61 billion from July 15-19 and UAH 7.88 billion from July 22-26.
