Russian Foreign Ministry reports on P5 meeting in Geneva

MOSCOW. July 26 (Interfax) - Representatives of the five nuclear-weapons states (China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, collectively known as the P5) held another working meeting in Geneva this week, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

"Another working meeting in the format of the five states possessing nuclear weapons in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) took place on the sidelines of the second session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2026 Review Conference of the Parties to the NPT in Geneva, Switzerland on July 23," the ministry said in a statement published on its website.

"It was the last meeting in the series of events held in 2023-2024 as part of the Russian Federation's work as a coordinator in the P5," the statement said.

"This role will soon be transferred to China," it said.
