Russian airlines' flights unaffected by Kamchatka volcano eruption - Rosaviatsiya

MOSCOW. July 25 (Interfax) - The eruption of Kamchatka's Bezymyanny volcano on Wednesday and its "current volcanic activity" have not affected flights of Russian air carriers, a spokesperson for the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) said on his Telegram channel.

"This natural phenomenon has affected the flights of only foreign air carriers, which operate transit flights from North America to Southeast Asia. Foreign air carriers are using bypass routes for safety - through the zone of responsibility of the regional air traffic control centers of the Unified Air Traffic Management System (Magadan and Khabarovsk)," it said.

Specialists of Rosaviatsiya and the State Air Traffic Management Corporation have increased their monitoring over air traffic in Kamchatka, it said.
