Azerbaijan boosts output of gas condensate 7.4% to over 2.7 mln tonnes in H1 2024

BAKU. July 24 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan boosted production of gas condensate 7.4% year-on-year to nearly 2.727 million tonnes in January-June 2024, the country's State Statistics Committee told Interfax.

State Statistics Committee data indicate that condensate accounted for 18.9% of overall oil output in the period, and oil accounted for 81.1%, or nearly 11.724 million tonnes, a decline of 7.4%.

As previously reported, oil production with condensate totaled nearly 14.451 million tonnes in the first half of 2024, a decline of 4.9% year-on-year.

The Shah Deniz field provided the main share of Azerbaijan's output of condensate, which is fully exported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. The Absheron gas condensate field in Azerbaijan's sector of the Caspian Sea, which was commissioned in July 2023, also contributed to production of condensate, as did the Umid field in the Umid-Babek block.
