Russian, N. Korean prosecutor generals sign cooperation agreement in Pyongyang

PYONGYANG. July 22 (Interfax) - Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov and his North Korean counterpart Kim Chol Won have signed an agreement in Pyongyang on cooperation between the Russian Prosecutor General's Office and the North Korean Central Procurator's Office and a program of cooperation between the two country's prosecutors for the 2024-2026 period.

In accordance with the agreement, the parties will cooperate on preventing crimes in the sphere of IT, including those committed using digital currencies and digital financial assets, preventing corruption and other service crimes, and crimes in the sphere of environmental protection, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office said. It is an expanded agreement; a similar document was signed in 2010.

The program of cooperation for the 2024-2026 period envisages a number of specific measures, such as a meeting on familiarization with the competencies and structure of the two countries' prosecutor's offices, a seminar on organizing interaction for preventing crimes in the sphere of IT, and consultations on protecting citizens' rights and lawful interests and on cooperation in providing legal assistance and assistance in criminal matters.
