Azerbaijan could produce 50 bcm of gas in 2024 - Aliyev

BAKU. July 22 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan could produce 50 billion cubic meters of gas in 2024, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

"Production this year is expected at 50 billion cubic meters. Some of it will be re-injected into the reservoir to further increase oil production, some will be directed to domestic consumption, and 25 billion will go to world markets," Aliyev said at the second Shusha Global Media Forum titled "Unmasking False Narratives: Confronting Disinformation." Aliyev's answers to questions at the forum are posted on his website.

Azerbaijan produced 48.497 bcm of gas in 2023, up 3.8% from 2022, including 36.414 bcm of commercial gas, up 4.2%.

Gas exports grew 5.3% to 23.8 bcm, with exports to Europe rising 3.5% to 11.8 bcm.
