Turkmenistan announces plans to sign agreement on Caspian-Black Sea transport route in 2024

ASHGABAT. July 22 (Interfax) - Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania plan to sign an intergovernmental agreement on the creation of the Caspian Sea-Black Sea international transport route in Bucharest in 2024, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.

Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov held talks with the state secretary of Romania's Transport and Infrastructure Ministry, Adrian Gheorghe Fogis in Bucharest last Thursday, the ministry said.

"The parties confirmed their intention to prepare for signing in 2024 in Bucharest a quadripartite (Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania) intergovernmental Agreement on the creation of an international transport route Caspian Sea - Black Sea," the ministry said.

Gurbanov and Fogis also discussed the implementation of previously reached agreements in the field of transport, as well as prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in transit and transport, including within the context of the Global Gateway initiative, the ministry said.

The Global Gateway initiative aims to mobilize up to 300 billion euros of investment in the period from 2021 to 2027.
