Power outage schedules keep being applied in Ukraine, Zelensky says efforts being made to stabilize situation
MOSCOW. July 22 (Interfax) - Regional power operators in Ukraine will apply hour-by-hour outage schedules for the whole day on Monday, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the national power grid operator Ukrenergo.
Power will be cut to one category of consumers from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., to three categories simultaneously from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and to two categories during the other time slots, it said.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said after receiving reports from Prime Minister Denis Shmygal and Energy Minister German Galushchenko on Sunday that all possible efforts were being made to stabilize power supply to households.
"I've received reports from government ministers, from the prime minister and the energy minister, primarily concerning power supply. I'd like to mark out the work of all of our repair teams, our nuclear power industry workers, and everyone involved in stabilizing power supply. Everything necessary is being done to supply more electricity," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying in his evening video address on Sunday.
Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Energy Ministry that, as of Monday morning, 533 communities nationwide had no electricity for various reasons, including technical faults.
Ukraine plans to import electricity from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary on Monday, with transmission capacity reaching 1,298 MW during certain hours.
