Foreigners let buy tourist facilities in Kyrgyzstan's Issyk-Kul area - law

BISHKEK. July 17 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has signed into law a bill allowing foreigners to buy tourist facilities in the Issyk-Kul resort area, the Kyrgyz presidential press service said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Sadyr Japarov signed into law a bill on changes to the law on the sustainable development of the Issyk-Kul environmental and economic area, which envisages amendments aimed at granting private ownership of recreation facilities except land plots to foreign individuals and foreign legal entities," the statement said.

The Kyrgyz parliament passed the bill on June 12.

The law "establishes that land plots used for recreation facilities are provided for limited (temporary) use in accordance with the procedures established by the Kyrgyz government," it said.
