Latvian govt to provide 100,000 euros to Ukraine to finance medical establishments
MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - The Latvian government has endorsed the allocation of 100,000 euros to finance Ukrainian medical establishments, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Latvian Foreign Ministry's statement.
"On July 16, 2024, the government approved a draft legislative act advanced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, On the Allocation of Financial Resources from the State Budget Program 'Contingency Fund', which aims to ensure 100,000 euros in funding towards Latvia's support for the functioning of Ukrainian medical institutions," the ministry said.
The funds will be used for reconstructing Ukrainian medical institutions, supplying them with medical equipment, ensuring their functioning and the treatment of patients. The payment will be made through a single responsible United Nations agency, such as the World Health Organization or the UN Office for Project Services, or via the Ukrainian Health Ministry, it said.
"The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Latvia, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and embassies, collects information regarding the urgently needed medicine, medical products and equipment, and work is under way on organizing yet another shipment of donations to the Ukrainian healthcare institutions," it said.
