Rosatom division's second wind farm in Rostov region to cost an estimated 13 bln rubles
ROSTOV-ON-DON. July 17 (Interfax) - The project by JSC Novawind, the wind power division of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, to build a second wind farm in the Rostov region in southern Russia will cost an estimated 13 billion rubles, Igor Burakov, head of the region's Investment Development Agency, said at a press conference at the Interfax press center in Rostov on Wednesday.
"The total investment for this project, for this wind farm, is now estimated at 13 billion rubles. Perhaps it will actually be higher," Burakov said. He said the project was already underway.
It has been reported that Novawind plans to build a 100 MW wind farm in Rostov Region. This will be Novawind's second wind farm in the region. The first, the Marchenkovskaya wind farm, was built in 2021 and now has 48 wind turbines.
The Rostov region now has six wind farms with combined capacity of 610 MW.
Novawind will also build the 50 MW Simonovskaya Wind Farm in the Turkmensky district of the Stavropol territory, also in southern Russia, by 2027, the regional government's press service said on Tuesday. The investment project is slated to begin in 2025. Surveying and design are underway.
Simonovskaya will be the region's eighth wind farm. The seven existing farms have combined capacity of 765 MW with two located in each of the Kochubeyevsky and Trunovsky districts and one in each of the Petrovsky, Novoaleksandrovsky and Ipatovsky districts.
"Green energy has become a brand industry for the Stavropol territory. Its development is one of our region's five breakthrough projects. Starting this year we are generating more than 2 billion kWh at green energy facilities - about 20% of the total output in the territory," its governor, Vladimir Vladimirov, was quoted as saying.
The second stage of the Trunovskaya wind farm was put into operation in March 2024. The wind farm's capacity is 95 MW.
