Rosseti, Yandex to install 200 EV charging stations in Moscow by year's end

MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - Rosseti Moscow Region and fuel payment app Yandex Zapravki plan to install about 200 electric vehicle charging stations in Moscow before the end of this year, Russian power grid company Rosseti said on Telegram.

This includes 20 stations that the partners put into operation earlier, the company said.

Rosseti Moscow Region told Interfax that it is leasing space for installing charging stations to partners at transformer substations and "carrying out turn-key work on their connection to power grids." The operating charging stations are serviced by Russian technology group Yandex , the company said.

When asked about the terms of the partnership, Yandex Zapravki told Interfax that this is a "joint project in the truest sense," where Yandex "provides the charging stations with the company's software installed, as well as services these points (all operating processes, including user support)." The company did not disclose how much it is investing in the project.

"The advantage of transformer substations is that they are located in residential courtyards, so drivers can charge their vehicle at night without having to make a special trip to recharge," Yandex Zapravki said.

Rosseti Moscow Region itself has installed and is operating 20 22 kW charging stations in Moscow, "not including the electric charging stations installed at transformer substations," the grid company told Interfax when asked how many such stations it now has.

"The principal development of the company's charging infrastructure is taking place in Moscow Region. As of now, 176 charging stations with capacity of 120 to 150 kW have been installed," Rosseti Moscow Region.
