Ukraine to cancel daylight saving time beginning in 2025

MOSCOW. July 16 (Interfax) - The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the law "On calculating time in Ukraine", Ukrainian media reported, citing a statement from MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

"Parliament has adopted [law] No. 4201 on canceling the transition of time in Ukraine from winter to summer," Zheleznyak posted on social media.

A total of 261 members of parliament voted to adopt the bill, which had required a minimum of 226 votes.

Zheleznyak said that clocks would be switched back to wintertime on the last Sunday in October this year, which is the 27th, and that there would be no switching to daylight saving time beginning in 2025 and going forward.

Speaker of Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk proposed the bill, which was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada in October 2020, and then adopted as a base in March 2021 and returned for revision. Only 212 members of parliament supported the bill in the second reading on March 19, 2021.
