Kremlin denies plans to limit access to YouTube
MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - Russian authorities do not plan to limit access to YouTube, and service problems are linked to equipment, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"No, there were no such plans," Peskov told reporters on Friday.
"We know from the official statements of our companies that the problem is caused by equipment which has not been upgraded for two years. There are no other explanations," Peskov said.
Rostelecom has warned about the possible worsening of YouTube's service caused by problems with Google equipment.
Earlier on Friday, Rostelecom warned about technical problems with Google equipment used by the Russian operator's network infrastructure, which may affect the quality of the YouTube video hosting service. The equipment is used for caching and accelerating the loading of content from Google services, mainly the YouTube video hosting service (the Google Global Cache system), Rostelecom said in a statement.
