MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax) - Italy will extend temporary protection for Ukrainians, Verkhovna Rada Deputy Chairperson Yelena Kondratyuk said following a meeting with Italian Minister of Labor and Social Policies Marina Elvira Calderone in Rome.
Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Verkhovna Rada's post on its social account that, according to Kondratyuk, Italy, as a G7 country, has provided over 2 billion euros in support to Ukraine and is among the top five EU countries by the number of displaced persons from Ukraine, 191,000, to whom it has given asylum.
The budget for financing the temporary protection program for displaced persons from Ukraine valid until December 2024 is 274 million euros. The program will be extended in 2025, as per the Council of the EU's decision on providing temporary protection to Ukrainians at least until March 4, 2026.
