Rosatom division to build second wind farm in Rostov Region - authorities
YEKATERINBURG. July 8 (Interfax) - JSC Novawind, the wind power division of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, plans to build a 100 MW wind farm in Rostov Region, the region's Deputy Governor Igor Sorokin told Interfax.
"The construction of the wind farm is planned in the Morozovsky district. A power delivery plan has been worked out and agreed with the system operator and grid company. The wind farm has been included in the land-use planning scheme and development program of Rostov Region," Sorokin said.
He said this will be Novawind's second wind farm in the region. The first, the Marchenkovskaya wind farm was built in 2021 and now has 48 wind turbines.
Rostov Region and the company signed the agreement on the new project at the Innoprom-2024 international industrial exhibition on Monday. Rostov Region now has six wind farms with combined capacity of 610 MW.
Novawind, which Rosatom founded in September 2017 to consolidate its wind power assets, has a portfolio of wind farm projects with combined capacity of about 1.7 GW, of which 1 GW are already operational.
It was reported earlier that Rosatom is considering a number of wind farm projects abroad, including in Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam and Myanmar. The company aims to have a portfolio of foreign wind farm projects totalling 5 GW by 2030, Rosatom division Atomenergoprom (AEP) said in its report for 2023.
