Russia's waterway transport agency expects cargo turnover at domestic seaports in 2024 to remain at last year's level

MOSCOW. July 8 (Interfax) - Cargo turnover at Russia's domestic seaports this year should remain at the level of 2023, Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) head Andrei Tarasenko told journalists.

"Cargo handling should remain at last year's level, though we will make every effort to increase the figures," Tarasenko said in response to a question about the forecast for cargo turnover in 2024.

Rosmorrechflot data indicate that cargo turnover at Russia's seaports rose 5% year-on-year to 883.8 million tonnes in 2023.

Rosmorrechflot last published data on cargo turnover at seaports for January-February 2024.

Association of Commercial Seaports (ACS) data indicate that cargo turnover at Russia's seaports declined 3.4% year-on-year to 373 million tonnes in January-May 2024.
