MOSCOW. July 3 (Interfax) - Gas stocks in Ukraine's underground storage facilities reached 9.5 billion cubic meters by the beginning of July, Ukrainian media reported, quoting Naftogaz Group CEO Alexei Chernyshov.

"Our underground storage facilities now contain 9.5 bcm of natural gas. That is enough to plan for 13+ bcm by the start of the 2024/2025 heating season," he said.

Gas stocks were estimated at 9 bcm as of June 17, according to Naftogaz data.

Ukraine entered November 2023 with gas stocks of 16 bcm, of which 8.5 bcm was withdrawn, with Ukraine using 6.7 bcm of it. The withdrawal season lasted 145 days.

Ukrtransgaz, which operates the underground storage facilities, got the injection season underway on April 1. Ukraine plans to store at least 13 bcm of gas for the 2024-2025 heating season.
