BISHKEK. July 2 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres have discussed regional and international security, including the Afghan problem, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry's press service said on Tuesday.

"During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation and held a productive exchange of views on the international agenda. When discussing regional and international security, including Afghanistan, the Kyrgyz side provided detailed information on Kyrgyzstan's priorities as a candidate for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council in 2027-2028," the press service said.

Kulubayev also touched upon climate change in the context of promoting the "mountain agenda". Kyrgyzstan declared 2022 the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, he said. Guterres, in turn, described Kyrgyzstan's efforts to safeguard biodiversity as an example for other states.
