Wildfires raging on over 607,000 hectares in 18 Russian regions - Emergency Situations Ministry

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - A total of 353 wildfires are raging on over 607,000 hectares in 18 regions of Russia, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's press service said on Monday.

"As of this moment, 353 fires are burning on more than 607.000 hectares in 18 constituent territories. In the reporting period, 541 wildfires have been recorded in 37 constituent territories of Russia. The wildfires shrank by 44,000 hectares over the week," the press service said.

The situation is the most serious in the Far Eastern Federal District, it said.
