Farmers harvest 721,400 tonnes of grain in 16 regions of Ukraine - Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry

MOSCOW. June 28 (Interfax) - Farmers in 16 regions of Ukraine have started harvesting early grain and leguminous crops, having threshed 721,400 tonnes of grain from 209,800 hectares of farmland, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry on Friday.

In particular, they have threshed 112,800 tonnes of wheat harvested from 36,200 hectares, with the yield averaging 3.12 tonnes per hectare, 545,700 tonnes of barley from 145,800 hectares (3.74 tonnes per hectare), and 56,300 tonnes of peas from 25,900 hectares (2.17 tonnes per hectare).

In addition, seven regions have started harvesting rapeseed, having threshed 63,600 tonnes harvested from 31,700 hectares.

Farmers in the Odessa region are leading in terms of the amount of grain harvested from 85,700 hectares, and those in the Ternopol region have seen the highest yield, 7.81 tonnes per hectare.
