Kyrgyzstan has investment appeal - Kyrgyz PM
BISHKEK. June 26 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan has investment appeal, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov said, according to a report released by the press service for the Kyrgyz government on Wednesday.
"Kyrgyzstan is making every effort to create a favorable investment climate for foreign companies, investors and entrepreneurs. Investment in the country is protected by the law on investments," Japarov told participants of the EXPO China-Eurasia: New Possibilities on the Silk Road and Power of New Life in Eurasia.
The openness of the economy, the liberal trade and forex regime, and membership in the World Trade Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union show that Kyrgyzstan has investment appeal, he said.
"Active work is being done to implement regional energy projects. The project to build Kambar-Ata Dam 1 has broad economic, environmental and social advantages and prospects not only for the country, but also for the entire Central Asian region. In intensifying cooperation on renewable energy resources, in combination with smart energy development, Kyrgyzstan can become an important link in promoting the Green Silk Road initiative," Japarov said.
The prime minister also spoke about the potential for tourism and the expansion of the transport system, which will help draw additional volumes of international transit cargoes and will considerably increase trade between China and countries in Central Asia, West Asia, the Persian Gulf and Europe.
